  • assisting in the provision of resources, facilities and amenities for the school; and
  • fostering community interest in educational matters

School Overview

At the end of the 2007 school year, the formal school overview was updated by the Principal, Mrs Jeanette Metcalfe, and is reproduced here:

Established in 1961 to cater for a strong growth area, Deanmore continues today as a quality public school serving the educational needs of those who are fortunate to call this prestigious beachside suburb home. Strong bonds exist across the school community with a highly supportive group of parents ever willing to support school staff with comprehensive and innovative curriculum delivery. This collaboration and the ongoing strong community partnerships make Deanmore a unique learning environment. Academic standards are high and external literacy and numeracy assessments return results which are among the best in the nation. In 2007 two students won places at the academically selective Perth Modern School with many others offered public school scholarships to study specialist programs. Sport, art and music enjoy high profiles and students work in computer networked, air-conditioned rooms that spill onto vast, meticulously maintained playing fields. In 2007 the Deanmore P&C secured Federal funding to install a state of the art adventure playground which caters for the developmental stages of all students from kindergarten to Year 7.

All school staff are registered with their professional association WACOT. In recent years two teachers have been state finalists in the Premier’s Teacher of the Year. Staff are strongly committed to professional learning and post graduate university studies. Staff members are welcoming and approachable and promote the core of shared values we endorse as an Australian society. Deanmore parents never lose an opportunity to show the extent to which they value quality teachers.

At Deanmore we promote inclusivity and celebrate the many differences young citizens bring to this multicultural society. Our ongoing links with Moline House, an aged care facility, enable a reciprocal program where young people share current educational outcomes and senior citizens offer encouragement and wisdom.

Deanmore has strong traditions with many second generation students now in attendance. There is a dedicated focus on developing leadership skills and students are represented by an elected Student Council. In 2007 a navy blazer was introduced for formal occasions. Prospective parents inspecting our facilities may be fortunate enough to see children arriving in the “Walking School Bus”, they may hear our choir rehearsing, see the Blue Earth Program in operation or hear the excitement of students returning from a camp. Should you choose to enrol your child at this fine public school you will be welcomed into the Deanmore Family with warmth and respect.
