Deanmore P&C - Buildings & Grounds

Deanmore Primary School site

Deanmore Primary School is situated on 4 hectares (roughly 10 acres) of land in Karrinyup bounded by Deanmore Road to the East, Rinaldi Crescent to the North, Rainer Street to the West, and Newborough-Rainer Reserve to the South.

The school was constructed and opened in 1961 (under the name “North West Scarborough Primary School”) with an initial enrolment of 167 students. In 1967 the name was changed to “Deanmore Primary School” to commemorate the Anglican Dean who opened the first church in this district. School enrolment reached a peak of nearly 600 students in 1971-72 and today (2007) is around half that number.

The grounds of Deanmore Primary School are a delight with an abundance of gardens, grassed playing areas, mature trees for shade, well equipped playgrounds and two school ovals. In addition, the adjacent reserve provides further grassed areas and natural bushland.

The school buildings themselves have reached the end of their lifespan (see reports below) and the school itself is being rebuilt on the current ovals during 2009 and most of 2010. Further information is available on the New School page.
