The health and well-being of our children are of paramount importance. Here is some useful information for parents.

Head Lice

Head lice are a perennial problem and they affect many families with ongoing infestations. These pests are in most schools and many workplaces. However, if the problem is managed promptly we can reduce the time parents have to spend dealing with infested hair.

The school will bring it to your attention if your child needs treatment, but that treatment is the reponsibility of parents. It would also be appreciated if you advise your class teacher(s) of any outbreaks so notes can be sent home advising other parents that the problem has arisen again.

The WA Department of Health has a good information page about head lice at http://www.health.wa.gov.au/headlice, including a very useful Acrobat logoHead Lice Fact Sheet.

1Seven - Move More, Eat Well

Deanmore Primary School is registered in the 1Seven program - a national health and wellbeing program for Australian children.

The name “1Seven” is based on a Federal Government recommendation that children should participate in at least one hour of physical activity and eat seven serves of fruit and vegetables (two fruit and five vegetables) every day.

The message is simple: Move More, Eat Well.

On Thursday 17th May 2007, West Coast Eagles captain Chris Judd along with premiership player Rowan Jones and gun midfielder Matt Rosa, were at Deanmore Primary School to launch the first Medibank Private 1Seven Curriculum schools program.

Joined by Western Warrior and Perth Orioles players, they visited the school to help communicate the important 1Seven message, “Move More, Eat Well” to the students, highlighting the benefits of an active lifestyle and healthy diet.
