Deanmore P&C - New School

New School Announcement

On the 7th August 2008, the same day the state election was called, the then Minister for Education and Training, the Hon. Mark McGowan MLA, announced $14.25m funding had been approved to build a new school to replace Deanmore Primary School, on the same site.

This announcement marked the culmination of many, many years of concerted action by the Deanmore school community to properly address the deteriorating condition of the Deanmore school buildings. This action even included a march on Parliament house in late 2007.

Even though the announcement was made on the same day as the state election was called, it preceeded the announcement by a couple of hours, and hence fell into the category of a fully funded incumbent government decision rather than an election promise. The P&C was quick to ensure bipartisan support for the project was gained from the Liberal party, who ended up winning the seat and the election overall.

This page is used to publish the minutes of the meetings of the “Project Concentration Group” (PGC) consisting of representatives from the Departments of Education and Training & Housing and Works, Deanmore staff, P&C as well as the consulting architects pulling the project together.

Planning has commenced and the new school is expected to be ready for occupation in Term 4 2010.
